FAQ

What's your experience?

I've had various pets from the earliest years of my life, though my more professional experience with pet care began around my freshman year of high school. I found a colony of feral cats near my house and began feeding them. I eventually began TNRing (trap, neuter, releasing) them to humanely prevent them from reproducing and increasing the population of homeless cats. I was involved with a local nonprofit organization, Love for Cats, where I gathered volunteers from my high school Humane Society Club to help the organization adopt out their fostered cats at pet stores in the area. Along with volunteering for the organization, I fostered cats from the feral colony myself. I met my two cats, Sandy and Bella, in that same colony, and they've been with me ever since.

I moved to Port Saint Lucie in 2021 and I joined Rover as a way to get involved with the community and do more professional pet-care. I've earned great experience from both dog and cat sitting; I love it so much and I've made it my duty to provide the best pet-care I can.

Do you provide overnight house-sitting or boarding?

No I do not. I only provide cat and dog drop-in visits and dog walks. Please refer to the Services page for more information!

Where do you provide your services?

Despite the name Tradition Pet Care, I provide my services not just in Tradition, but throughout Port Saint Lucie.

What can I expect from a visit from you?

My services are tailored exactly to you and your pets needs, so a visit is based on whatever you'd like me to do! For example, for a typical cat drop-in, I'd arrive with some mail from the mailbox (if you'd like me to get that for you) and do a head count before starting the care routine. Once I've let all your pets know I'm here and have given them pets if they'd like, I'll go to feed them if necessary. If the food bowls are dirty, I'll wash them first, then set down their meals and fresh water. While they eat, I clean the litter box and sweep or vacuum to keep the space tidy. Once the cats are done eating, I either play with them (or we'd play before feeding them if that's preferred), or just sit and pet them if they aren't the playful type. I make sure they get plenty of love before it's time for me to to send photos and type up a message to the owner. I can also take care of any other household care before I go, such as watering plants.

The same can be said for a dog drop-in! For dog walks, I'll take whichever route you'd like me to go on, and match whatever pace you'd like. If your pet just needs a low-energy stroll, we'll do that. If your dog needs to let out lots of energy and would like to jog, or even stop to play at a dog-park, we'll do that with plenty of water breaks!

Are you insured?

Can I book with you privately first?

I ask that all first-time clients please book with me through Rover first. This is because Rover provides an extra layer of safety and security for me, you, and your pets through the Rover Guarantee. Additionally, if you scan my QR code and use my promo code THERES48017, you'll get $20 off your first booking with me through Rover! I'm also insured for my own business and can book privately as well.

Yes, I have insurance under Pet Care Ins.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes. Every pet deserves quality care, but it might be out of budget for some. I happily offer discounts to those who are a short drive away and whose pets don't require an extended amount of care, such as needing to clean frequent potty accidents or needing very high-energy walks. To be able to support my business and to maintain fairness for myself and my other clients, please understand I may not be able to provide discounts to those who live further away or whose pets are not well-trained. Remember that with your first booking with me through Rover using code THERES48017 can get you $20 off your first booking with me!

What do you do in the case of injury or illness?

Your pets safety and health is my top priority. The first step to treating injury and illness is to know what I can do to prevent such an event from every occurring. When we have our free consultation / meet and greet, part of asking about your pets care routine is asking if they're on any medication or have any history of illness or injury. I'll also want to know if they have any special behaviors or triggers; if I know they aren't able to walk for long, or if they might suddenly bolt towards any other dogs or animals, I'll keep that in mind when they're in my care. I can also provide any oral medication if need be.

If something unfortunate ever occurs and your pet isn't well, I can get them straight to their vet or the nearest emergency vet, and/or contact you first thing. I can also contact any emergency contacts you provide me as well.
